Big Wood Lane – Family Entertainment

Basement, Family Room, Wet Bar

With two tween boys, this family of four had multiple needs for space that could be used for kid and adult play. With the exception of a guest bedroom and bath, the lower level of their home was wide open and unfurnished. Only two steel columns and a beam imposed into the space. The challenge was to  redevelop the open space in a way that would accommodate an existing pool table, home theater and gaming, card table, and a wet bar with wine storage.

During the design process we developed over 8 different options that would accomplish some or all of the required program. Site lines and intimate spaces were paramount in creating  a multi-functional entertainment area that promoted both small and large group interaction. Perception of functional separation while still providing an open feel was accomplished by the use of a two sided fireplace and millwork wraps around existing beams and columns. We were also able to add a bonus workout room to the program with visual connection to daylight and views outside.

Albers Design constructed this project using our proprietary CMA Advantage™ construction deliver method.
