Minnetonka Lakeshore Redo
Kitchen, Living Room, Home Office, Powder Room
This newly purchased lake home needed an update. The interior was dull and dark. The family room carpet was dingy. The kitchen cabinetry, window and door trim were golden oak. The hardwood flooring had developed a yellow patina and the fireplace overwhelmed the space with large dark stone from floor to ceiling. The homeowner didn’t want to replace the existing cabinetry or countertops, but she did want to replace the existing range hood. And, she preferred interior furnishings that reflected a contemporary lake home. We began by painting all the natural oak elements white. The upper half of the stone fireplace was removed and replaced with shiplap which was wrapped around an adjoining stairway wall. The carpet was replaced with light maple hardwood. A built-in media cabinet and cozy reading nook were added to the sides of the fireplace. The kitchen cabinets were painted, and custom details were added to personalize the island, custom range hood and beverage center cabinets. This project reflects the amazing positive transformation that can be made to a home’s interior by making strategic updates to the permanent pieces and creative choices for the furnishings.
