Inglehart Avenue Kitchen
Kitchen, Breakfast Room
This project was a kitchen remodel in an 1897 St. Paul, MN home. Over the years this kitchen saw many changes by previous owners that resulted in a patchwork of styles and quality. Our goal was to update it with modern conveniences yet be respectful to the 1897 period look of the home. To achieve this goal, we added cherry inset beaded cabinets, soapstone countertops and an apron sink. Many years ago, the three-season porch became part of the kitchen, but it always remained visually distinct and separate. During the design process we decided to continue the tradition. We painted the wood trim details teal, red and yellow to remind us of the kitchen’s history as a porch. A hidden corner, that was previously used as a pantry with a freestanding shelving unit, was converted into a fully functioning pantry by adding additional cabinetry and custom shelving. This kitchen now looks and feels like it belongs in this 1897 home.
