Orchard Lane Kitchen
Kitchen
Our client, a single mom with three children, purchased this home during the recession. Having been neglected, the interior was modern with metal railings reminiscent of a boat, and the tile floor felt sterile. A poorly placed staircase closed off the kitchen, making it difficult to access.
Wanting to warm up the home with new furnishings and finishes, our client had a vision to make it comfortable and welcoming for friends and family. Not knowing how to achieve the look, friends advised her to keep the spaces divided but she wanted a more open concept.
We believe in creating the home our clients envision, and so got to work opening up the space by eliminating the wall between the dining room and the kitchen and creating a U-shaped floor plan for ease of cooking and gathering. A large island features seating on two sides and shared cooking space on the other, making this a fun and easy way for multiple cooks to use the kitchen.
Finishes include bead board cabinet doors, hardwood finished floors and an apron sink. Open shelving with corbels add to French Country décor.
